As a bard I naturally like to collect stories. One of my favorite things to do is to sit down with someone one-on-one and hear, in their own words, stories about the things they've seen, the places they've been, and the incredible experiences they've had.
Storytelling is one of the oldest art forms known to man. Since the beginning our ancestors gathered around the fire to entertain and even educate with the stories they told. The very cultures that gave birth to civilization owe their existence to these early storytellers.
While my purpose may not be so grand in scope, I too want to do my part to continue their tradition.
Introducing Drunken Bard's Tales from the Tavern, a new creative project where I will be gathering your stories to read and share with the world.
Imagine you are in a cozy candlelit tavern. It's late in to the night, practically morning already. Most of the patrons have gone home except for the few passed out at their tables. The Bard on stage gives his lute a final check before tucking it safely away in its case before he notices you sitting there. He walks to the bar and pours two drinks before sitting down and sliding one over to you. It's late, a night of fond revelry has lifted your spirits and loosened your tongue. What tale would you tell the bard who offered a coin for your story?
I'm looking for tales of the incredible, the paranormal, the unbelievable. Stories of coincidences too good to be true, of love's enduring struggle, of far travels and dreams unfolding in your back yard.
I want you to bring your best, but more importantly I want YOUR own tales. I want stories you have seen with your own eyes, stories passed down to you, stories that come from LIFE, not only your imagination. Save your sci-fi, your horror, your creepypasta for the internet forums.
Of course as a bard I would never fault someone for... Artistic embellishment. But please, for the sake of the heart of this project, try to stay true to the stories in -your- heart.
For now I am just collecting stories. Once I have received enough I will be going through to select a few good ones to get us started on the right foot. What will this project be? A monthly blog post? A weekly podcast? Maybe even a YouTube video series? Only time will tell. It is up to you, dear reader, to determine the level of success or failure for this endeavor.
Please submit your stories to DBTavernStories@gmail.com
I look forward to being inspired by your tales and sharing the very best of them with the world.
